Axl Rose has revealed he broke his foot and needed to have surgery to repair it.
The 54-year-old Guns N' Roses front man tweeted the news on Friday, writing: 'This is what can happen when you do something you haven't done in nearly over 23 years.'
Axl and band members Slash and Duff McKagan are set to kick off their stadium tour in North America Friday night in Las Vegas.

In the video, Dr. Rachel Triche, a foot and ankle specialist in Santa Monica, discussed Axl's injury, revealing that he 'sustained a fracture on the fifth metatarsal, which is one of the bones in his foot.'

The legendary rocker now has a cast on his foot while the injury heals but Dr. Triche explained that he can still perform, although he has to do it carefully.
'We're limiting how much weight he's putting on it so he's having his set I think designed so he can perform for everyone still,' Dr. Triche said.
Adding: 'He'll be limiting the weight on the front part of the foot for about four weeks and then we'll let him gradually progress from there so we can get him back to his stage ready action.'

Last week,Guns N' Roses played their first gig together since 1993 at The Troubadour in Los Angeles.
According to TMZ, the injury occurred after he slipped on The Troubadour stage during the song Mr. Brownstone.
The band is set to hit 21 cities this year for their summer tour; next week they are headlining Coachella in Indio, California.
